September Roundup

It seems like every month is just flying by lately. I'm both excited and anxious for October. I'm getting deeper into my classes and everything seems a little bit crazy right now, but at the same time it feels right. In two weeks I get to home home for a weekend for the first time in a month and a half, and I'm super excited to see my baby puppy Lucy and my favorite kitty, Pumpkin, who I haven't yet brought back with me to Philadelphia. I've been waiting to get the apartment for adjusted before bringing him back into this craziness so he's kind of hanging out with my parents right now, not that they mind at all.
I didn't have too many outfit posts for September. The crazy thing is,I can still wear all of these outfits comfortably thanks to the 80 degree weather we're having this week. Um, hello, Fall?

Weekly Recipe: Sea Salt Caramel Chocolate Chip Cookies

If I was ever going to tell you that there is one kind of cookie you HAVE to make. Make these. Please. They are so soft and chewy, the middle has an unexpected burst of caramel that oozes out and the cookie is so sweet and buttery with the chocolate chips and then the sea salt adds a quick salty taste and it's just, ugh, it's great. At first I was reluctant to try these since I saw you had to add the rolo in the middle and all and it seemed complicated but once I got started I realized it's only one extra step. You can see the full recipe HERE!

Love is a Ruthless Game

Fall ShortsFall Shorts Fall Shorts "Love is a Ruthless game, unless you play it good and right," from "State of Grace" is quite possibly one of my favorite lyrics from a Taylor Swift song ever (and trust me, I love every line of every song). Derek and I are trying to readjust into this idea that we don't get to see each other every night after work now that I moved two hours away. He visited a little more than 2 weeks ago and I'm strongly looking forward to a full weekend with him here in Philly. I love when he gets to visit and we can get a small glimpse into what life may be like for us if we get the opportunity to live together one day. Yesterday was 4 years and 5 months (ha, I usually don't count out every month, I promise) and the idea of living together one day is becoming much more of a reality, even if it isn't for another year or two.Fall Shorts Fall Shorts Fall Shorts Fall Shorts Fall Shorts Fall Shorts TARGET TOP, SHOES AND HAT | URBAN OUTFITTERS SHORTS
This outfit is my new go-to for Fall. I picked up these shorts from a Labor Day sale at Urban a few weeks ago and have already gotten plenty of wear from them. The color is perfect for Fall and it transitions well for the new season. Lately I can't get enough of neutrals, maybe it's the whole being in the city once again. I just want to wear black, maroon and shades of grey. Also, I'm obsessed with hats once again, I remember my freshman year of college I was obsessed with beanies and would wear them all the time during the Fall months, now I can't get enough of these types of hats. Are there any new Fall trends you're obsessing over?

Snapshots. 2.

Last week my parents came to visit me in Philly and help me set up a little bit more. In October we will be getting the love seat for the living room, and things will start to feel more home-y! If you follow me on instagram I'm sure you've seen some sneak peeks at the new apartment, but I'm hoping to share more once things are set up in our living space a little better!

When my parents came we ate at Jack's Firehouse on Fairmount (where they had the BEST pulled pork) and then walked over to the art museum since it was such a beautiful day. And aren't my parents so cute!? I miss them so much when I'm away at school, but then again we are only a 2 hour car ride away.

Goodbye Town

Goodbye Town Goodbye Town Looking back at these pictures, I actually feel pretty sad about summer coming to an end. This was about three weeks ago and I can still feel the humidity in the air just by looking at these pictures. I'm one of those few people who love those hot and sticky summer days. Maybe it's because I grew up in North Carolina where the weather was always humid. I love days where you get that whiff of air that reminds you of being a child again. Hot, humid summer days are those days for me. Goodbye Town Goodbye TownGoodbye Town H&M DRESS | ALDO SHOES
This is my last summer outfit post, and it's so hard to believe. I absolutely love this dress, I got it two years ago from H&M and still always try to find a reason to wear it. I remember this particular night Derek and I went out for a dinner date to Chilis (our go-to spot, I know, so suburban). The layer of tulle underneath the skirt is probably my favorite thing about this dress. I have a thing for full skirts, seriously can't get enough. I'm heading back to Philly and saying good-bye to hometown for awhile once again.

Weekly Recipe: Peaches n Cream Bars

Maybe I should start calling this a monthly recipe feature instead of weekly, ha. I've done a fairly poor job at keeping up with this but now that I have my own apartment I'm hoping to do better at this feature! This is a recipe I made about a week or two before I left for school, and that is peaches n cream bars! This is such a perfect treat for mid-end of summer since peaches are in season and tend to have the best flavor then. These were also super easy to make, which is always a plus.

To make, preheat your oven to 350 degrees and have an 8 x 8 pan ready. I lined mine with aluminum foil for an easy clean up. First, you have to prepare the crust and bake that for 15 minutes and then move on to the filling. The glaze will be added after the bars are done cooling. You can check out the full recipe at Sally's Baking Addiction, here!

Snapshots. 1.

As a way to make myself practice photography a little bit more I'm going to have a weekly post called, "Snapshots". Here are a few shots from the weekend.

The view of Philadelphia from the Art Museum. Fresh flowers for the apartment. More of Philadelphia. Breakfast tacos for brunch at OCF Cafe.

Summers By the Water

Top: New York and Company, Shorts: Urban Outfitters, Shoes: Francesca's

As always, the weekend went by much too quickly. Despite how quickly it went, I actually had a wonderful weekend. Derek took the train to Philly to stay the night with my Friday night here at my new apartment. It was such a sweet thing for him to do, especially considering how expensive it was to take the train out here for one night.

I was going to post the pictures when I realized I never shared these pictures from before I even left again for school! Although I wore this outfit almost a month ago, it would still work now. Especially as a transition outfit. I love wearing longer-sleeved tops with shorts during the Indian Days of summer.

This was such a fun day, after snapping some outfit posts we wandered around Pinchot Park and went for a hike in the woods until the sun started to set. I've been so happy in the city the last few weeks but looking back at these pictures, I do miss the serenity that nature brings.
