13th and Pine

Tuesday, September 25, 2012. The Last Drop. 13th and Pine

With two mid-terms this week things have seemed so hectic. I guess during weeks like these it's important to just sit down with a few friends, relax and enjoy a latte.

I hope you all are taking time to relax, even during your busiest days.

Emmy Awards: Princess Style

Living in a house without cable, I didn't catch the Emmy's the other night but I did keep up with what everyone was wearing through tumblr. Everyone looked so beautiful but I think my favorite, hands down, was Zooey Deschanel. I loved her pretty powder blue "fairytale-esque" custom Reem Acra dress. A lot of celebrity's get criticized for wearing dresses that seem too much for a high school prom but I usually end up loving those dresses. And hey, why would someone not want to feel like a princess for a night? Speaking of high school proms, I was just reminiscing about the two nights of my life so far where I got to feel like a "princess". I think what a lot of us decide to wear to prom really shows part of our style during that time period. I've never been one to go for "sultry" and "sexy", I opt for lots of tulle (9 layers to be exact) and glitter instead.

Fall and Stripes

12, 3
Stripes may be a year long trend but they seem to fit perfectly during the Fall season. They match beautifully with a blazer, colored trousers and fun accessories. Fall is definitely my favorite season to dress for. There's something so comfortable about a big knit sweater that you can pull over and I love being able to pull on a pair of flat ankle boots. Some major Fall trends I've been seeing lately in Philly is burgundy/army green pants, stripes, combat boots, and edgy accessories. I'm so excited to bring my Fall wardrobe out.

What season is your favorite to dress for? And what trends are you currently seeing in your hometown?

A Fun Food Filled Weekend

I hope everyone had a great weekend! It always seems to go by too quickly. We couldn't have asked for better weather here in Philadelphia (but maybe a little less wind, especially for those of us who bike everywhere) and I couldn't have asked for better friends to spend it with. Friday I attended a yoga session around South Street that was absolutely incredible, definitely what I needed after a full of summer that didn't include yoga. Then, Saturday I made pumpkin cream cheese and my friends and I biked downtown to enjoy bagels and sunshine in the park. Earlier in the day, I managed to slice my thumb open while opening a can and after a quick and (not needed) trip to the ER the day brightened up. We ended up seeing "Celeste and Jesse" and it was so incredibly funny and overall just great! Please do yourself a favor and go see it. Also, we went to a restaurant on Chestnut called "Fuel" that was absolutely delicious and healthy, bonus! Then we finished off the night with frozen yogurt. Ha, certainly a food filled weekend.

Broken Promises

Tank: ASTAR, Jeans: Target, Shoes: Target

I've been so excited to show you all this top forever and I'm finally getting around to it! I won this top from ASTARS over the summer and I'm obsessed! This is quickly becoming one of my favorite brands, I can't wait to be able to eventually order a few things from their brand. Comfiest and cutest tank ever, it's called Broken Promises Tank and I feel like it goes perfectly with a pair of colored skinny jeans, minimal makeup and fun heels. How would you style it?

Weekend Update: Green Eggs

Sometimes all you need for a great weekend is a few of your best friends, some sunny weather, a big city and a delicious brunch. Green Eggs Cafe on 13th has been our "go to" since Spring last year and we couldn't have picked a better spot. With school starting up again I've been learning how to deal with managing my time again, definitely not the easiest but I'm getting the hang of it. It seems like every September there seems to be a dry spell on this blog. Oh well, here's to posting more!

Freshly squeezed Tangerine Juice
My red velvet pancakes! I'm kind of obsessed with red velvet.

Wearing White

Top: Moms, Capris: Levi's, Sandals: Target, Necklace: Vintage

Who says you can't wear white after labor day? As long as the weather is appropriate I'll be slipping on these comfy pair of levi capris as much as possible as summer is coming to an end. Stripes are such a timeless look that they pair perfectly with these capris. This top was actually my mom's 10 years ago, I love when getting "hand me downs" from family members, it's so fun to incorporate older pieces into your wardrobe. What do you think? Will you be wearing white after labor day? Do you incorporate thrifted pieces into your wardrobe?
