8 Things On My Summer Bucket List

8 Things On My Summer Bucket List This Year | Organized Mess

The official first day of summer is just about a week away already! Once again, this year seems to be flying by and I feel like I haven't gotten the chance to sit down and figure out what the rest of the year looks like. Derek and I just took a trip to New Mexico last month for my 30th birthday, which is probably our last big trip for a while now that we'll be jumping into wedding planning (!!) this summer and planning our 2-week long honeymoon to Italy next fall. Before time slips away in the midst of planning, I wanted to put a few summer bucket list items together because this time of year will be over before we know it!

Below are 8 things on summer bucket list:

1. Go on a long weekend trip to at least one of my two favorite summer spots - Newport, Rhode Island or Hudson, New York. I'm not sure whether I'm more if I'm more in need of a mini getaway to the beach or mountains yet.

2. Go on one or two day trips to Cape May and stop by a few of my favorite places while we're there such as Cap May Brewery, The Blue Pig Tavern, Louisa's Chocolate Bar and Beach Plum Farm. I also want to make a stop at Cape May Winery which I haven't been to yet.

3. Speaking of day trips to the Jersey Shore, I would also like to check out a beach town I haven't been to yet! I'm trying to decide between Stone Harbor and Avalon - do you have a preference? I'm not sure which one to pick!

4. Read at least 8 books this summer. Look out for post on my summer TBR list soon!

5. Attend 3+ concerts, a few on my radar here in Philly are The Head and the Heart, First Aid Kit, Maggie Rogers, The National, Mt. Joy, and The Lumineers. Plus, I'm seeing Boygenius (so excited!) in a few days so I can go ahead and cross one off the list.

6. Go to a farm or farmer's market outside of the city, possibly one with flower picking

7. Visit Longwood Gardens and spend the afternoon or evening in Kennett Square. Derek and I went to Longwood Gardens years ago and really enjoyed it so I would love to go again this summer.

8. Have an outdoorsy day - go hiking and kayaking, swim in a lake, pack a picnic. Derek and I usually go on a camping trip every summer but last year we had a pretty traumatic camping trip (long story short, our camping neighbors weren't great to be around and a bear came up to us and stole our food - I'll have to write a full post on this trip lol) so I'm not sure if I'm quite ready to go camping again yet.

A few other things on my summer bucket list are to wake up early enough on Sundays to go to the farmers market, order the frosé from Talulas Garden, get the turkey hoagie from Martha, have cocktails on rooftop bars, go for a run on the Schuylkill River Trail like I used to when I lived in Brewerytown, and make my favorite peach, burrata & prosciutto salad
