One of the best things about living in Philadelphia? We are so close to so many different things! There are beaches within 90 minutes and other large cities like NYC, Baltimore and Washington DC are about a 2 (ish) hour drive away. The Pocono mountains are less than a 2 hour drive from the city and Lancaster and other farm towns are practically right outside of the city. We truly have it all close by - other cities, farms, mountains and beaches. This is one of the reasons why I see myself staying in Philadelphia for, well, forever. I'm such a city girl but this pandemic has definitely made me itch for more time outside after being stuck in a little apartment for most of the year. Last month Derek and I headed to Maple Acres Farm for an afternoon of flower picking.

The farm is nestled in Plymouth Meeting, a short 30 minute drive from Philadelphia. You can pick your own flowers and in-season fruit but there's also a farmers market that sells fresh produce, baked goods, jam, various plants and so much more. We picked a handful of colorful flowers and then went to the farmers market afterwards, picking up some peaches, kale and a jar of strawberry jam and a lavender lemonade slushie and yes, it's as refreshing and tasty as it sounds! There's also various animals around the farm. We saw a horse, donkey and a few chickens roaming the property. That along with the fields of flowers and produce was such a refreshing sight to see after months in the city!

This post was so much fun to read, and the pictures are beautiful. I've never been flower picking but it's something I really want to do one day - it's great to support small producers and farms. The lavender lemonade slushie must have been so good and refreshing!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend Chelsea! :)
