Spring Colors

Spring spring spring. You are finally making an official appearance. With no temperatures below 60 degrees this week, I'm more happy now than I have been in months. It's incredible how weather can do that to a person. I swear I need to end up moving to a state where winter doesn't really happen, I could easily do without it.

I don't even know if all of these colors match, I'm just trying to throw on as many bright colors as possible with my accessories. Black and white is one of the trends this season, but it felt too wintery with black tights and metal jewelry, so I quickly exchanged those for bright tights, jewelry and a bag. I got this Steve Madden bag a few weeks ago knowing it would be the perfect Spring bag and I'm so happy I did. It's such a fun pop of color within all of my outfits.

Do you have any accessories that you keep with you daily to brighten up an outfit?

4 Years Together

Derek and I spent our 4 year anniversary together here in Philadelphia. It's hard to believe we've been dating that long. It's even harder to believe that we started dating as sophomores in high school when I'm a sophomore in college now and Derek just graduated with an associates degree in graphic design. Back in high school, the biggest worry of the year was homecoming and prom and now we're starting to deal with bills and real life jobs. In high school, it was hard to imagine what life would be like afterwards and although it's harder now, I absolutely love it.

Derek and I laid around watching "The Office" and stuffing our faces with junk food for half of his trip here but we also went out on dates. Derek went with me to the Reading Terminal market to go grocery shopping, we went to "Square Peg" for our anniversary dinner, got ice cream at Scoop DeVille, my parents came up one day and we went for brunch at South Street Diner and walked around some of the historical sites, went to a Phillies game and on our actual anniversary (the 23rd) I made Derek a dinner of barbecue chicken, mashed potatoes and corn bread (his favorite). Overall, it was a fun time and I really enjoyed Derek getting to see a glimpse of my life here in Philly.

I've really enjoyed this school year in Philly and living in my first house with three roommates, but it's also been a long year and I'm looking forward to spending the summer months in my hometown with my family and Derek before moving into a new apartment with my best friend in August.

PS: Pumpkin may be turning into the new grumpy cat haha

A Week in Instagram

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. I just had one of the best weeks I've had in awhile with Derek. He's still living in our hometown that's two hours away, but for the last week he came to stay with me at my place in Philly. It was so refreshing and nice to catch up when I feel like we've barely seen each other since Christmas break. Here were a few shots from Instagram. I'll show some of the pictures I snapped with my camera as well Friday.

I'm off to catch up on my mass amount of neglected homework from the past week now!

1. Me and Pumpkin waiting for Derek to get to Philly
2. The beautiful roses Derek got me for our anniversary
3. Ice cream and milkshakes at Reading Terminal
4. We baked homemade oreo cheesecake cookies when my parents also came for the day
5. We made our own mini pizzas with sandwich thins, pasta sauce, shredded cheese, spices and veggies
6. Derek surprised me with tickets to the phillies game! The best present I could have ever asked for! It ended up being such a fun night

Hot Diggity

I think if it came down to me choosing the number one thing I find the hardest about living in Philadelphia is missing my family. I'm so close to my parents as well as my grandparents so it can be hard for me to be away from them for more than a few weeks. Luckily, only being 2 hours away, they come to visit me whenever I don't have the opportunity to take the train home every few weeks. I love when they come see this new place I call a home. None of them have ever really lived in a city so I love seeing their reactions to all of the craziness here.

Last time they came we went to South Street (one of the more eccentric streets in Philly) and went to a new gourmet hot dog place and it was delicious. I usually don't like hot dogs but these were an exception! Also, the fries and blueberry soda was pretty awesome. I went with the desert dog which was piled with spicy green chile, tortilla strips and pinto beans. Yum. Also, I loved the cool, cheeky images for all of the dogs.

Windy Windy

Dress: Ark and Co (Thrifted), Tights: Target, Boots: Rocketdog, Necklace: Thrifted (vintage), Jacket: Target

This past year has been extremely windy compared to the years before, at least it seems so. This is making getting outfit pictures not the easiest thing in the world. Due to my hair and my hands trying to hold down my skirt, it's so hard to get pictures that aren't blurry when the flash isn't on. Have you guys been experiencing a smiliar problem?
Anyways, I'm so excited for tomorrow! Derek's coming to Philly for nearly a week so we can celebrate out 4th year anniversary which is on the 23rd. Hope you all have something to look forward to this week.

Sweetest Moments

It's funny how when I look back on my favorite moments, they tend to be the most simple, sweet moments. These simple, sweet moments are the ones I never want to take for granted. I see so many adults who are so worried about everything else take for granted small, happy moments in their lives and I don't want to become that kind of person, ever. I've been called naive so many times, but I truly people savoring these little moments are what keeps us happy, as well as sane when other things in our lives are spiraling out of control. With all of this catching up in schoolwork I've been doing, I'm just letting my mind go back to one of the days I enjoyed the most over Christmas break.

Derek had to go to work in the early afternoon on this particular January day, so he came over early in the morning and we spent our time making homemade crepes (filled with nutella, peanut butter and bananas) and playing with Pumpkin. It's crazy how little Pumpkin is here! He's getting so big now, he's going to be 6 months old next week as I announced on instagram (c_elizabeth93) over the weekend.

I encourage you all to share your favorite little moments! I would love to hear about them.
