Lace and Curls

Top: Old Navy, Skirt: Xhileration, Shoes: Merona, Necklace: Vintage, Bracelet: Xhileration

Once again, it's another chilly day where I would not even think about going outside bare-legged in a sundress or shorts. I'm hoping that this can be the last outfit posted where I'm wearing tights and that Spring will finally reappear. I wore this outfit over a month and a half ago now, when I was home for Spring Break on a date with Derek to go see "The Vow". I love pairing black and white (or off white) with a pop of red. For this situation, the pop of red is in my shoes but it isn't so overpowering that it takes over the entire outfit. Pair lace with curls for an even more feminine look.

I hope you all are having a wonderful start to the week! I have finals for the next week and a half so I'm going to be studying, studying and studying! Luckily, me and a few friends are planning to get brunch one day this week in the city which will be a nice break from schoolwork.

Spring Trends 2012

1, 2, 3, 4, 5
This season seems to consist of all different types of trends. There is a big mixture between classy and edgy items. Classic items, like peplum dresses and skirts have been reappearing everywhere, I love how surprisingly flattering this style is, just be sure to pair it with high heels to avoid looking shorter or wider due to the extra amount of ruffle. Classic items such as strappy heels and sandals are headed towards an edgier look with the bright colors they are being sold in. Dresses with dipped hemlines and asymmetrical hemlines are popping up everywhere, especially in stores like "Forever 21". At first I thought high-waisted cut off shorts were more of a tumblr trend, but now this pair is quickly becoming one of H&M's most coveted items. Sheer tops are definitely an easy way to stay trendy this season, especially if you buy one in a shade of orange or pastels. Another thing, if you didn't catch on by the color choices of these clothes, is that tangerine and other orange shades are becoming ever increasingly popular as well as shades of pink.

Which trend are you looking forward to sporting this Spring?

Grey Skies

Dress: H&M, Tights: Unknown, Boots: Gift, Scarf: Gift, Necklace: Vintage
Lately it has been so hard to get dressed in the morning. I never seem to know what to put on with this ever changing weather. I am ready for these grey skies to go away, it seems as if these dark clouds have been hovering over Philly all week. Earlier in the week, it was so cold that I was able to repeat a winter outfit. I'm ready for sundresses and cowboy boots! These outfit pictures were taken all the way back in February, but with this weather, this outfit is still appropriate. At least the pop of maroon brings out some color! I picked this dress up on sale for ten bucks at the beginning of the second semester and I'm so glad that I did because it turned out to be an excellent versatile piece that I wore with a ton of different accessories and colors. There's nothing more satisfying than buying a piece and realizing how well it fits into your wardrobe.

Three Years Together

Today is mine and Derek's official three year anniversary! It's so hard to believe how long we have been dating and how much we have gone through this last year with me moving away from York and coming to Philadelphia. He came here this weekend to see me, and it turned out to be such a wonderful relaxing weekend. I wish weekends like that would last longer, but unfortunately, they don't. It was supposed to rain all day Saturday but we lucked out with sunny skies. That night, when we went to Penn's Landing you could smell the rain coming and it seemed like a perfect ending to the night. Derek and I ended up running around in the rain that night looking for a place to eat when we gave up and relaxed in "Cosi". Sometimes those simple moments end up being the very best.

Currently Trending: Color-Blocked Shoes

Color blocking seems to be coming back full force this Spring, especially in the form of shoes. Yesterday while shopping in Philly with my best friend, I found a pair of heels that I can't seem to get out of my mind in Zara. If only they weren't $50, I would have snatched these up right away. They would have been such a simple color blocking piece. Now, I can't seem to get color blocked shoes out of my mind in general. I can't wait to try out this fun trend. What about you? Will you try out color blocking when it comes to your shoes, or your entire outfit? Some of my favorite bloggers have tried this trend out in the past. Will you stay in the more neutral position or move straight to bold colors? Chiara of "The Blonde Salad", Emily of "Cupcakes and Cashmere", and Sofia Hedstrom photographed by "The Sartorialist"

Warmer Days

Cardigan: Target, Shirt: H&M, Skirt: Zara, Boots: Relativity, Necklace: Vintage
I would be lying if I said I wasn't ecstatic when I found this skirt on the clearance rack at Zara for merely ten bucks. I've always been obsessed with that store but it isn't the best choice for a broke college kid. I had never even been to one before ending up in Philadelphia. Philly is seriously one of the best places to shop at. Okay, or to at least window shop at. This season I have been particularly into buying stripes. Of course, that has always been one of my favorite patterns but this year I think the only new things I have bought involves stripes! I love the color coordination of navy and green, I got to try out my new skirt when i went home for Spring break. Did I ever mention this necklace before? It's one of my favorite finds from a indoor flea market in Lemoyne, Pennsylvania. It actually has a little magnifying glass connected to the back of it! These pictures were taken about a month ago and I can't believe how dreary the grass and trees were! When I went home for Easter I noticed that almost everything was completely green again. Can't wait for warmer weather, especially now that I heard it's supposed to get in the 80's Sunday and Monday! Wishing you all warm weather this weekend.

Pumpkin Cranberry Pecan Bread

Pumpkin cranberry pecan bread, aka the best thing I have ever made, was a huge hit. Especially with the streusel topping. Compared to other baked goods, this bread is fairly healthy and a light choice. I probably ate about five slices of this bread and with no regret. It was that good. I'm so happy that this recipe made two loaves because I gave a lot of it to other family members. This recipe definitely reminds me of Fall but it's perfect all year long. This will definitely be a "go to" when I'm trying to bake something for breakfast to enjoy with coffee.

Winter Days are Gone

Jacket: Olsenburge, Sweater: Old Navy, Jeans: Sold, Boots: Rocketdog, Necklace: Vintage, Hat: Target
It's hard to believe that these pictures were taken all the way back in January during Winter Break. I remember taking these as if it was yesterday. It was when Derek and I went on our winter picnic and it ended up being below freezing. I don't know how I managed to take these pictures without crying. The thought of being in weather below 50 degrees makes me cringe. I just got back to school after spending a long weekend at home for Easter break. I have so many pictures to catch up on! It's also hard to believe that school will be over in 1 short month. How did my freshman year go by so fast!?
