Styling a Black Maxi Dress for Summer

Happy Tuesday! Hope you all had a great weekend! What did your weekend look like? Mine was pretty chill - I did a little reading in the park and grabbed a cocktail (or two) with friends but it was a pretty go-with-the-flow type of weekend. If I don't have any plans set in stone for the weekend I like to wear something that could easily go from day to night or from park to bar! One of my favorite versatile pieces is this black maxi dress. It's a light, linen-y material so it's not too hot for a summer day in the park but it's also easy to dress up for a drink out in the city.

 

I've styled this dress somewhere between dressed down and dressed up here between my leather belt, Teva's and woven vintage bag. This look could easily take me from reading in the park to cocktails with friends!  If I wanted to really dress it up, I would swap the Teva's for a block heel and maybe take a clutch instead of the woven bag. And if I wanted to dress it down a little bit more, say for a day at a lake, I would lose the gold jewelry and swap the woven bag for a tote. What are your favorite versatile summer outfits?
