This season I have seen a noticeable amount of velvet. In fact, I haven't seen this much in years. The last time I remember velvet being a big thing was when I was a little kid. Stores like Top Shop have been embracing it, making full velvet dresses. Other stores, like Free People, have been including it in small doses. Which do you prefer?
Free People
Topshop
I think I lean more towards the velvet incorporated in to outfits instead of being the most noticeable thing. Although I do think that it can be a fun way to dress up for a Holiday party paired with the right accessories.
OH nice. Did not know velvet made a come back.

I love velvet but I agree it is better not being the main focus. Or else it feels like a kindergarten Christmas dress from childhood haha
ReplyDeletelovely collection of clothing love the dresses
ReplyDeleteI love velvet, but I always associate it with Christmas. Maybe because of Santa Claus. :-)
ReplyDeleteMuch love from Mystic Nymph.

I'm more of a fan of the free people way of doing velvet, however a full on velvet shoe I do love!

I like the last 2 Top Shop dresses. Velvet has been big lately. I don't know if I could pull off a full velvet dress but maybe if it was half velvet it would, like you said, look good with black tights.

oh man, i can remember a velvet pencil skirt that i wore until it had two shiny butt-print ovals on the back! the downside of velvet, i suppose. :O) this year, i'm lusting after a velvet burnout scarf, which i have yet to find.

ReplyDeleteI have never managed to pull off velvet. It reminds me so much of the eighties haha. I hsould give it ago though, at least to see how it looks, I would probably start with pieces that just have a touch of velvet.
ReplyDeleteAll those dresses look great...I think it's really nice trend this season;):)I like it!Thank you for follow me,i follow you back;)
ReplyDeleteI like velvet as a minor detail! It looks the best in small doses :)
ReplyDeleteI have a soft spot for velvet (no pun intended lol) but as much as i think it looks so nice, i don't think i'd wear an entire dress made of it. I agree with you, incorporation is better
