I am proud to say that I tried my first "detox" smoothie. I was pretty scared at first but then I felt a bit better after hearing about a lot of people liking it. It's safe to say that the two cups on spinach is what scared me the most.....but after the holidays I knew that I needed to get some much needed vitamins and other minerals in my body!
It only calls for ice, 2 cups of baby spinach, one banana, a cup of almond milk, and a tbsp of flaxseeds. You can also add in whatever else you want. I decided to add a cup of strawberries and half a cup of blueberries in it as well to make the fruit taste stronger.
I actually found the recipe here (also go here to see the health benefits). After trying it, I realized it wasn't bad at all! It tasted like fruit and not like spinich at all and I was easily able to drink it. If you're looking for a detox smoothie I definently recommend this one. It's safe to say I will be making many more of these in the future. Don't let the color fool you, I know the green can be a turn off but it really is yummy.
Isn't it great?! I'm so obsessed with the Green Monster lately!

Yum! Some friends of mine just got a juicer and we've been making all kinds of veggie juices--beets, arugula, celery, spinach, etc. Yum and so healthy. :)
ReplyDeleteSo those do taste good? I've seen countless health magazines rave about them, but never really considered doing it myself. Do you have to do a whole regiment with them for it to work?
ReplyDeleteWoooo hoooo!!! Glad my experimentation led you to try it, too :) its surprisingly tasty, isn't it? I'm going to try experimenting with different fruits next time

I'm going to the grocery store today actually, and I'm going to buy the stuff to make this....was it easy on the stomach? Sometimes green drinks are a little too much for me, but this seems like it would be like eating a sals with fruit....
ReplyDeleteThis one is extremely good on the stomach so don't worry about that Mimi! Let me know what you think then. :)
