A Long Weekend in Savannah, GA

Savannah, Georgia

Last June I packed my bags and headed to Savannah, Georgia for a long weekend. The purpose of the trip? A bachelorette party! It turned out that this sunny little city in Georgia was a great place to spend a girls weekend.

I've done a lot of traveling in the past 12 months, from Savannah last June to a road trip to Pittsburgh and Cleveland in August and then a trip to France and Spain in September followed by a road trip to Montreal and Quebec City in October and lastly a trip to San Diego in February. It's hard to think that the next 12 months aren't going to look the same but I'm looking forward to revisiting past trips by posting about them now and looking forward to planning more for the future.

WHERE TO STAY

We stayed in an airbnb in the Historic District right by Broughton Street. This place was perfect for all 7 of us and it had a cute balcony that we were able to sit on while sipping morning coffee. The best part? The 1500 sq ft condo is only $150 a night. You can find it HERE.

WHERE TO SPEND AN AFTERNOON

Tybee Island - A beach day in Georgia? Yes, please! We went to Tybee Island for an afternoon and it was a great way to spend the afternoon. There's nothing necessarily fancy about it but it wasn't overly crowded and you can (legally) drink on the beach. Our trip was in June, so I am assuming that it does get busier as the summer goes on.

Wormsloe Historic Site - An avenue of oak trees and Spanish moss leads to the historic site of Wormsloe, a colonial estate from the 1700's. The avenue itself is breathtaking and worth a picture (or two...or three).

WHERE TO EAT

The Breakfast Club - Located in Tybee Island, this no frills diner is exceptionally delicious. We enjoyed a hearty breakfast here before making our way to the beach.

Blends, a Coffee Boutique - This coffee shop was only a few blocks from our airbnb so we had to try it out. I went with an iced lavender latte which was great because it wasn't overly sweet. I tend to avoid flavored lattes or coffee but I'm glad I tried one here.

The Ordinary Pub - This cozy pub has so many fun things on the menu, including brunner! AKA, brunch inspired dinner dishes. Breakfast for dinner is my favorite thing so what could be better? I went with a chicken and waffle gyro and it was the perfect mix of sweet and savory. If brunner isn't your thing the Southern pad thai & grits and the short rib & kimchi also sounded delicious.

The Collins Quarter - Best.Brunch.Ever. And it might also be the most beautiful brunch spot ever. I went with the french toast topped with a berry compote and a glass of champagne, vodka and mixed berry but honestly I don't think you could go wrong with any choice.

The Paris Market - This adorable Parisian-inspired cafe also has a little store attached to it but I was too focused on the colorful macarons and the homemade poptarts to really look around. (Both were delicious).

Leopold's Ice Cream - This ice cream parlor has been around since 1919 and is advertised as a Savannah Tradition. It still holds a retro theme and there are so many flavor options. I went with Georgia peach which felt appropriate on a summer day in Savannah.

Shopping in Savannah

WHERE TO SHOP

The Edition Shop - I'm a sucker for a well curated boutique and The Edition Shop definitely falls into that category. Everything is beautifully displayed and they carry a few of my favorite brands, For Love and Lemons and Agolde!

Capital Bee Company - This adorable little shop was across the street from our airbnb and carried almost anything you could want to give as a gift from Savannah. The store carried so many local things from honey (there was even a honey bar!) to jewelry to art to snacks and more.

The Spice & Tea Exchange of Savannah - This is such a great spot to get a gift for someone who loves tea or to cook. There were so many variety of tea leaves and spices - it was a little overwhelming but the staff was incredibly helpful.

Savannah Bee Company - SO MUCH HONEY. Seriously. There were so many varieties! I left with lavender honey but there were other fun options like black sage honey, orange blossom honey, rosemary honey and (plenty) more. There was also mead tasting as well!

Arrowleaf - This adorable boutique had a fun variety of clothes, accessories and shoes. It was a mix of preppy, boho and beachy but everything was so cute!

Along Broughton Street - Most of the shops I mentioned above are on Broughton Street but if you're in Savannah I definitely recomend walking along this street. There were SO many shops, we didn't even make it to a quarter of them!

Going out in Savannah, Georgia

WHERE TO GO OUT

Club One - Okay, so the cover is a little pricey but this was where I saw my first drag show so I felt like I had to include it. Plus, we had so much fun here! If you're also with a bridal party or with  group of friends I would say that it's worth it.

River Street - This street is filled with bars and clubs, if you're looking for a night out this is a great place to start.

Forsyth Park

BE A TOURIST AND...

Go to Forsyth Park - This park is massive, it's right in the city and it spans over 30 acres. We had a nice walk around the park but I'm sure this would be a great spot for a run or a picnic as well!

Go See the Forest Gump Bench - The actual bench that was used in Forest Gump has been placed in the Savannah History museum but there's still a bench in the same location that you can still snap a pic at.

Savannah really was the perfect location for a girls weekend, especially for a bachelorette party! I could definitely see myself going back to this cute little city in the future. I love that it's the perfect size for a 3 day weekend! Have you been to Savannah before? What are your favorite things to do there?
