Polka Dots and Overalls

Ever feel like there's a trend that you're loving but can't pull off? That was always me and this whole overall trend! I decided to try on these patchwork denim overalls at the boutique Never Too Spoiled here in Philadelphia and ended up being pleasantly surprised. Now, they might not be the most practical piece of clothing that I own but I'm loving how many different tops you can wear underneath them! I decided to combine the overall and the off-the-shoulder trend and go with this fun polka dot top - which I'm also loving the oversized sleeves.NEVER TOO SPOILED OVERALLS AND TOP | OLD NAVY BOOTIES | LOFT SUNGLASSES | KATE SPADE BAG | MICHAEL KORS WATCH
This past weekend felt like a tease for early fall weather. It was still warm but there was definitely a little briskness compared to what we've had the last few weeks. Looking ahead, it looks like it's going to be in the high 80's-90's for the next two weeks so these overalls will be a no-go until later but I'm looking forward to styling them for fall.

Summer Nights

Summer style should be effortless, especially if you live somewhere hot and humid. Philadelphia is like a bubble of humidity all summer long so finding clothes that will be cute and comfortable is always a fun challenge. My friends and I were headed to a riverside bar after sundown so the goal was to look a little dressed up but not to overheat. Halter tops are one of my favorite options for summer nights and wide leg light pants are fun over the usual shorts for a night out as well. Straw bags have been everywhere this summer. It's such a fun addition to a summer wardrobe and I love all the shapes and color options. I found this bag at Free People for under $60 and I already know it's going to be my go-to bag for the rest of the summer.
I hope everyone is having a good week so far! How is next week already going to be August? Where is the summer going? I saw fall clothes in the windows of a few shops and couldn't believe it, but I guess we are getting to that time. Has your mind started to wander into fall fashion or are you still 100% in summer? (I'm definitely still in full-on summer mode).

Blogger Style - Summer Fun

The possibilities of how to spend your summer in Philly are endless. There is always so much going on and so many places that are full of options. One place that comes to mind right away for a little bit of summer fun is the Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest and Spruce Street Harbor. From roller skating to riding the carousel, it feels like you're at a carnival - right in the city of Philadelphia! There's even a ferris wheel and games set up around RiverRink. We wandered around the SummerFest, taking in the sights of being right by the water facing the Benjamin Franklin Bridge and then (of course) stopped for ice cream. Because what could be a better way to spend a summer evening?SMAK PARLOUR ROMPER (ANOTHER CACTI OPTION) | LOFT NECKLACE (SIMILAR) AND SUNGLASSES | MICHAEL KORS WATCH | OLD NAVY SANDALS | KATE SPADE PURSE
Check out how my fellow Philly fashion bloggers styled their summer look for the SummerFest. With everything from a summery bag, to a lemon crop top, to a fun pair of patterned sandals, and to a fresh white top with floral sunnies - I am loving everybody's look from head to toe! Take a look at how we styled looks for brunch and springy floral looks in the past. E.M. - LARK & LACEMELISSA - SKINNY AFFAIRSUSAN - SUSAN PADRON, STYLISTPRIYANKA - PAINT THE TOWN CHIC

Dumbo, Brooklyn: Yellow on a Rainy Day

Last month Derek and I planned a day trip to Dumbo, Brooklyn. Our last few day trips to NYC have mostly been spent in Manhattan so it was nice to spend an afternoon in my other favorite borough. We spent the morning getting brunch in Soho at Jack's Wife Freda and then made the walk over the Brooklyn Bridge (my first time to walk across the bridge!) into the neighborhood of Dumbo. It ended up being a rainy and chilly summer day but there was still so much going on. We spent well over an hour at the Brooklyn Flea Market, looking through vintage clothes and dusty records. We stopped for coffee at Brooklyn Roasting Company before taking a stroll around the neighborhood and spending some time by the water before it started to downpour. While it rained we peeked in all of the adorable shops located along the cobble-stoned streets including The Powerhouse Arena.  ANTHROPOLOGIE JUMPSUIT | OLD NAVY SANDALS (Similar) | LOFT SUNGLASSES AND NECKLACE | KATE SPADE PURSE |MICHAEL KORS WATCH
This jumpsuit from Anthropologie is a piece that I could live in all summer long. With the breathable fabric and the flowy silhouette it's not only perfect for a moderate summer day but will be easy to wear when the temps are rising. Plus, it's yellow - my favorite color! What's currently your favorite summer piece in your closet?
