This is the 2nd year for Derek and I to live together, and although we have been dating for 7 years - we spent 4 of those years as a long-distance couple, seeing each other about once a month or so. It's been fun for us to start new traditions within and near our home in Philadelphia. One of my new favorite traditions is apple picking at Solebury Orchards! This orchard is about an hour outside of the city and has everything, including apple picking, pumpkins, a cutting garden (I have to do this next time!), hot apple cider and, my favorite, apple cider donuts. Yum!

We were able to make it out for apple picking last Saturday. The rain didn't seem like it was going to stop all day, but later in the day the rain seemed to break and we made our trip to New Hope. It was still cloudy and a little bit dreary but that just gave us the perfect excuse for hot apple cider after picking apples for a bit. This cape coat (which is on sale now!) ended up being the most cozy layer to wear out on dreary day, it's literally like wearing a blanket out in public and it being socially acceptable - what could be better?

Also, this year we definitely did a little bit better with how many apples we picked. Last year we managed to get carried away and accidentally pick 12 pounds of apples while this year we only picked 5 pounds of apples! Overall, this rainy day ended up being the perfect day for a fall date! Do you have any fall traditions? Do you live near Philadelphia? If so, be sure to check out Solebury Orchards! Other options include Linvilla Orchards, Highland Orchardsand Shadybrook Farm. But hurry - apple picking is typically until the end of the first week of November!
