Christmas Day

Dress: Myrtlewood via Modcloth (Under $100!), Heels: Modcloth, Necklace: Vintage, Belt: Target

Christmas came and went so quickly, as it always does. My mom is in the midst of taking down the rest of the decorations after taking down the tree a few days ago. I feel like I have so many Christmas posts to catch up on! Oh well, I can just spread the Christmas cheer into January, right?

These were taken on Christmas day. As soon as I had seen this dress on Modcloth's site, I knew it would be perfect for Christmas, in fact, I bought it almost two months ahead of time. I decided to dress it up with gold accessories such as a necklace, a sparkly belt and heels. I also added some pearl earrings as well. I actually didn't even realize I could wear earrings, I had gotten them pierced in high school and the last time I wore earrings was to prom three years ago. When I saw my pearl earrings sitting in my jewelry box I was pleasantly surprised when they slid right in.

On Christmas day we spent the first half of the day at Derek's house with his family and then we went to my Uncle's and followed my parents from there to my grandmother's in Maryland. So, must of our time was spent with my parents, siblings, grandparents and great grandma. My favorite thing about the holidays is getting to spend so much time with my family and Derek. I'm sad to see it starting to dwindle down after the New Years.

I really can't believe Christmas is only a couple days away! I am actually kind of on top of things this year, I finished the rest of my Christmas shopping yesterday and even finished wrapping everything. I even got a little crafty this year with my gift wrapping skills.
Derek and I were actually headed out to finish Christmas shopping for his parents when we stopped to snap these pictures. This outfit is one of my favorites I've put together in a while, I love that feeling when you put something together and it just feels right even if you can't really pinpoint why. I guess that's what is so exciting about trying different styles and experimenting with fashion, sometimes after some trial and error you find an outfit you feel really shows off who you are-at least for that day.

Christmas Tree

Derek and I holding the ornament he got me for our second Christmas together back in 2010!
The pine needles were so sharp my brother opted for gloves.
I even had bangs in the second grade.
Aren't my parents the cutest?
My little sister and her boyfriend. my brother, me and Derek.

Less than a week until Christmas! I cannot tell you how excited I am, but I'm sure a lot of you feel the same way. This time of year makes me so happy, I'm actually sad to think about it ending. This Friday I'm having some friends over for a cookie baking/decorating party and then Saturday Derek's coming over and we're going to build a gingerbread house and watch Love Actually. Last Friday my parents, siblings, my sisters boyfriend, Derek and I decorated the Christmas tree! It's so little compared to the ones we usually get but it's cute and really round. We used to have an artificial one but then I started to beg for a real one a few years ago and after my parents gave in once we've opted for a real one since then! (Even though it turns out my poor mother is allergic to them, haha, luckily only mildly.)

Swallow Print

Dress: Asos (Under $40!), Belt: Forever 21, Tights: Hue, Shoes: Thrifted, Sunnies: New York and Company, Purse: Francesca's Boutique

I have a slight obsession with clothes that feature some sort of animal. I have an small collection of animal printed sweaters and now a collection of bird dresses seems to be happening in my closet. This swallow print dress from Asos is so soft and comfortable, I'm excited to style it a few different ways over the winter season. This time I styled it with a pair of vintage heels, a braided belt, red lips and cat-eye sunnies for a family get together.
