Pumpkin Carving

Hello everybody! I hope you all are having a wonderful Halloween this year. I don't want to think about the fact that I broke a full length mirror today, so I guess I have 7 years of bad luck now. On Halloween, of all days. Haha. As you all saw HERE, Derek and I had a great time picking out pumpkins to carve this season. Derek used his awesome artistic skills (he is going to school for graphic design after all) to carve a cute cat and I used my awesome kitchen skills to heat us up some apple cider. You can see our pumpkin from last year HERE. I hope you all are also enjoying the new layout! I am so excited for the Fall season. Tomorrow I plan on finally updating my "About Me". It's safe to say that is a little bit outdated.

Banana Nut Bread

When I went home a few weekends ago I waited for everyone to go to bed and then I turned out the lights, lit some candles and played some Michael Buble and Frank Sinatra and baked until almost 3 in the morning. It's safe to say I needed a night of relaxation like that. One of my favorite simple desserts in the Fall is a slice of banana nut bread. It's such a perfect breakfast, or snack. Especially with a glass of cold milk. I also opt  for walnuts when making this bread. I used this recipe out of my Mom's Betty Crocker cookbook for the perfect home made taste.

Pumpkin Picking

Last year Derek and I picked out a pumpkin for the first time. You can see that here. It was so much fun that we decided to do it again. So, I came home for the weekend so I could spend Fall back at home for a weekend. Fall in the city is definitely not what I'm used to, as much as I love it here I miss the simple things about the country. Like the mountains, the orchards, the red leaves, and buying things like in-season apples, peanut brittle and pumpkin whoopie pies. I got a taste of home when Derek took me to Browns Orchards so we could pick out a pumpkin and get some hot apple cider.
Of course, things aren't perfect with this long distance relationship but it is so incredibly worth it and it makes me appreciate every moment I have with Derek even more. I had a perfect weekend with him and my friends and family. I can't wait to show you more pictures of my fall weekend! I will show you what me and Derek ended up carving on HALLOWEEN! Who else is excited as me?

Sweater: Old Navy, Tank: JPark, Skirt: Forever 21, Shoes: Liz Baker
Remember when Derek came to visit me here in Philadelphia? Well, I didn't let him go without snapping a few outfit shots. We too these on a beautiful Indian Summer day a few weeks ago in Rittenhouse Square. It felt so surreal to take pictures where I've seen some of my favorite bloggers like Kimberly and Dylana take their blog photos. I still can't believe I made it out of small town USA and live in this beautiful city. I have yet to meet another fashion blogger, I hope to someday soon! How much fun would it be to hang out with someone who shares the same passion as you!?

Fall Fest 2011

It's now become a yearly tradition to go to the Fall Fest in Lancaster every year. It's a day long festive where you just sit and watch country music artists play all day. It's full of beer and good food. Every year my main two priorities are a pulled pork sandwich and fried oreos. It's always fun to see who's going to be playing. In the past we have seen Little Big Town, Darryl Worley, Sarah Buxton, Gretchen Wilson, Chris Young, Jake Owen, Jerrod Niemann, The Band Perry, and many more. This year we got to see Bradley Gaskin, Randy Houser, Lauren Alaina, Steel Magnolia and Rodney Atkins. It was freezing cold out and sprinkling during the entire 6 hours but Derek and I snuggled underneath blankets and ate tons of food.
It was so nice being able to go home for the weekend and going to this Sunday before heading back to Philadelphia. I miss my siblings, my parents, my friends and Derek so so much. And despite the fact that I live in the city now, country music will always be my favorite.
