At this time next week I'll be in my favorite city in the world, Paris! This will be my fifth trip back since 2015 and it never gets old. There's nothing I love more than walking through the streets of Paris or sitting in a cafe sipping on wine or a café crème while people watching. Last year I went with two of my best friends, Adrienne and Allen. We started in Paris, flew to Venice, then to Copenhagen and then made our way back to Paris before flying home to Philadelphia. In total we only spent about 3 days there last year in June so I'm excited to go back later this week and spend a little more time in my favorite city.
The first thing we did in Paris was eat, of course! We even stopped for a meal before we made our way to the airbnb. We stopped for omelets, salads, bread and coffee and then made our way to what would be the worst airbnb experience that we ever encountered. We arrived and the apartment was filthy, the toilet wouldn't stop running, there was no shower curtain and you had to hold the nozzle to shower. There was only one window in the apartment which was ground level and we were shooing away pigeons to make sure they wouldn't walk into the airbnb from the yard! But honestly, all of this is something that we just laugh about now! Just a funny little travel anecdote. These things make traveling more exciting...right?
Since all three of us have been to Paris before we skipped a lot of the touristy stuff and just strolled around, basically eating and drinking everything in sight. I wish I had kept better track of exactly where we ate but all I know is that we had a tendency to stop in random places and lucked out every time. We didn't end up anywhere overly touristy which was a relief. We ate everything from croque monsieurs to crepes to bread slathered with butter and jam to burgers to duck to creme brûlée to every other dessert imaginable (pastries, cakes, gelato and more). We ate EVERYTHING.
I guess I should mention that the one touristy thing we did was one of the Seine river tours. We refused to go on the bottom of the boat (IDK why), even after it started to rain quite hard so all 3 of us ended up getting drenched during the tour while laughing hysterically and missing a decent amount of the information that was coming through the speakers. But again, those funny little anecdotes are the things that you remember and laugh at the most.
I'll be in Paris September 21st-22nd and then again September 28th-30th. If anyone has any recommendations for things we should definitely check out or where to eat/shop I would love to hear them!
I have always dreamed of going to Paris. I hope you have lots of fun going back! It looks absolutely charming!
