Holiday Party Look: Velvet and Plaid

12.10.2017

Attending a holiday event and don't want to go with the usual party dress? One of my favorite combos right now is velvet and plaid! Velvet is so festive (and comfy!) and paired with a plaid skirt makes for a party-ready holiday look. I found this vintage 1990's velvet tee from Lost & Found last spring and I love mixing it with current pieces. When it comes to accessorizing I decided to keep it on the minimalistic side since the outfit itself already has so much going on with the velvet and pattern. One of my new favorite accessories? Wrap rings! Stacked rings have been everywhere the last few years and I love this fun twist on that trend. Instead of using individual rings you have one single ring that wraps around your finger to give the illusion of there being more than one. It's both unique and practical. I love the idea of only having to keep track of the one ring itself rather than searching for all of the individual pieces in my jewelry drawer. It's going to be the perfect accessory for all of my holiday looks this season. (Plus, Wrap Ring is based right here in Philly!) One of the best parts? They come in so many different colors and gem shapes so you can find one that's perfect for your personal style. I went with the "Anne" ring in black and white because I'm always on the go and felt I like could work a neutral piece into most of my wardrobe.

6 Pairs of Holiday Heels Under $100

12.06.2017

It's that time of year again - holiday party season! The last few years I've gotten really dressed up during the holidays but this year I'm thinking about keeping it a bit more casual. I don't want to spend money on a dress that I'm only going to wear once to a party and then hide in the back of my closet for years. I'd rather buy a piece I can work into my everyday wardrobe. One trick to wearing something on the casual-side to a holiday party where you may want to look more refined or formal is to dress up your look with a pair of heels. The best part? Find one great neutral pair that you love and that you can easily wear with different styles and colors and you're set!

The Block Heel | Block heels are both fashionable and easy to walk in - win and win! If stilettos aren't your thing this is a great alternative.

The Solid White Pointed Toe Heel | My current obsession! White pointed heels will instantly add a cool-girl chicness to your outfit and make you look instantly on trend.

The Glittery Heel | Add a bit of low-key sparkle to your look with a pair of glittery heels. This will instantly dress up any casual outfit. And what could be more festive than glitter?

The Classic Black Pumps | You can't go wrong with a classic pair of black pumps! These will go with nearly everything (all year long!) so if you rarely wear heels this may be the pair to get.

The 2 Inch Heel | For those who want to wear heels but don't want to worry about too much height or trying to focus on balance all night long. A pair of 2 inch heels are the perfect swap!

The Animal Printed Heel | Choose an animal print like cheetah or leopard print for neutral tones with a little bit of pattern. I love cheetah print heels with bright red and maroon!

The Perfect Weekend Sweatshirt

12.04.2017

Who says sweatshirts can't be fashionable? This oversized black sweatshirt is my new go-to for the weekend, plus it consists of two fall trends - fun sleeves and distressed fabric.

Fun sleeves have been everywhere for the last few months and I can't get enough! I've bought a fair share of bell-sleeved tops but this is the first full tier-sleeved piece in my wardrobe. I love how this add a twist on the oversized sweatshirt look without looking sloppy. The sleeves do most of the talking so the accessories can be kept minimal.

The distressing makes this a casual and laid-back piece but with the mix of the distress and the sleeves it keeps this sweatshirt from looking like it was just laying in your closet for too long. I've eyed a few distressed tees here and there but haven't been able to find one for less than $30 so I haven't bothered. Plus, I'm much more likely to wear sweaters than tees.

Maman in New York City

Hide from the madness of Soho and visit Maman Coffee tucked between Grand and Broome street at 237 Centre Street.

Open seven days a week, this is the perfect place to be productive or to take a mini break from the loud streets of New York City in the seat-yourself section. Or, you can grab a filling brunch with a friend in the new seated section of the cafe. The menu is locally sourced and changes every day. Enjoy a fresh quinoa salad for a snack or (my personal favorite) a slice of the lavender cake. Do you love lavender as much as I do? Also try the indulgent lavender hot chocolate if you're looking for something other than coffee to sip on.
Maman is the perfect Instagram-worthy hideaway spot with good eats and quality coffee. If you're not in Soho check out one of their many other locations in Tribeca, Greenpoint and the Meatpacking District. Happen to find yourself in Toronto or Paris? They have locations there as well!
