Red Gingham and White Denim

Happy Memorial Day! For once, I'm spending the holiday weekend in Philadelphia instead of venturing out the the 'burbs. And I have to say, Memorial Day weekend in Philadelphia is actually perfect. It seems like everyone is out of town so it's been quiet, plus, there has been no wait for brunch or for drinks anywhere! No waiting around to get in for Sunday brunch without a reservation? Moments like that are few and far between. The weekend was packed full of time spent with friends and day drinking and all the other things that summer has to offer. It's been cloudy and drizzling off and on but that hasn't stopped us from enjoying the unofficial start of summer.
Naturally, I have to wear a few festive colors for the holiday. I decided to go with a red gingham top and white denim. I actually bought THIS top months ago (currently still in stock and on sale!) and it's been hiding in my closet since. Red gingham always feels so summery so I've been waiting until it actually felt like summer had arrived before wearing it out - so today is the perfect day! Even if the clouds and 60 degree weather don't scream summer, Memorial Day equals summer, right? I'll be joining my friends for a cookout later today in one of the city parks and I'm already looking forward to grilled veggies and burgers. I hope that whatever you're up to today you're able to spend time with friends and/or family. For a few Memorial Day and 4th of July (because that will be here before we know it) inspired outfits take a look at the following,

Blogger Style - Florals? For Spring?

spring fashion
"Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking". (As Miranda Priestley would say.) I, on the other hand, am all for it. And so are a bunch of other Philly style bloggers. We met up a few weeks ago at the beginning of the spring season to collaborate on our favorite floral finds. Surprisingly, we all mostly showed up in dark, moody colors which I absolutely loved. It was such a different take on what comes to mind when you think of florals for spring and everyone was styled so perfectly in their own unique way. Florals for spring (and summer) can get a little repetitive so I always suggest looking for unique patterns in unexpected colors. This LOFT jumpsuit (which is sadly sold-out) was a piece that I knew I had to have as soon as I saw it, not only did it have a unique pattern but I love how it combined the current ruffle trend into the jumpsuit in a subtle way.

We will be meeting up again this weekend for a style blogger brunch and shoot so we will be sharing our own take on a go-to brunch outfit. I'm already looking forward to how we each style our looks! It's so great having a strong community of bloggers in Philadelphia. We're all a part of PHL Bloggers where we meet up with bloggers in all fields for different workshops and social events. It's so much fun and such a great way to meet other people with similar interests who you can collaborate and bounce ideas around with. Check out everyone's blogs and see the details on where they found their floral looks and stay tuned for our next collab. Bells + WhistlesKELSEY - BELLS + WHISTLES
