Travel Log: Brussels, Belgium

My trip to Brussels, Belgium was the first trip I took outside of London during my spring semester. London was incredible and beautiful but nothing too hard to adjust to. Brussels was the first time I felt like I was in a true European city and was surrounded by people who spoke another language. Everything looked like it was straight out of a picture and it even had a small town feel to the city itself. The weather was sporadic- rainy and then sunny off an on the entire weekend but somehow the city seemed even prettier when it rained.
Be Sure To: Take a walking tour. I wouldn't recommend this in every city but Brussels was filled with a lot of history I knew nothing about. There are also so many cute corners to the city and this is the only way I would have made it to places such as Brussels Park (Parc de Bruxelles / Warandepark), the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula and the infamous Manneken-Pis (the fountain of the "rebellious spirit" peeing - evidently they even dress the statue in various suits for different events throughout the year.) Keep a look out for incredible street art hidden around the city during your walking tour!

Drink: All of the beer. Seriously. I'm not a huge drinker but over the weekend I had at least tried 10-12 beers and they were all insanely good. Hit up Delirium Cafe where there's more than 2,000 beers to choose from. Overwhelming, I know, but you can always just ask the bartender which is their favorite and try from there if you're unsure of where to start. Two of my favorites ended up being the Floris Kriek and Delirium Red - both of which are fruity beers. The Floris Kriek had a richer cherry flavor while the Delirium Red had the taste of blackberries  highlighted with strong cherry notes.

Eat: Waffles, frites with andalouse sauce and chocolate. It's tempting to try the waffles with all of the toppings as you pass numerous stands throughout the city but try it first with just powdered sugar (trust me) and then eat all of the waffles that you can with all of the toppings that you want. After a night of going out the best (maybe not the best FOR you but best in the moment) food to grab is frites with andalouse sauce - a sauce made out of mayo, tomato paste and peppers. I'm still day dreaming about frites with andalouse sauce and it's been nearly 5 months since this trip. And chocolate. Honestly,  just go into any legitimate chocolate shop and everything you try will be amazing. Lastly - I got incredible veal meatballs in a white beer sauce from Nuet Nigenough (literally translated to the Greedy Gluttons) and it was just absolutely incredible. Maybe even in my top 5 best meals list.

Visit: Cantillon Brewery. This brewey specializes in lambic beers and has been around since 1900. All of the beer is still brewed traditionally and they even use equipment from 1900. It's absolutely incredible to take the tour and see how it's done. It's unlike any other beer tour you have ever been to. On top of the tour you also get two free hearty beer samples. What kind of trip to Brussels would it be without a traditional beer tour?

I think that girly, classic styles will always be my favorite. I can't resist a cute pair of t-strap heels, red lipstick or a pretty dress. Summer and spring are my favorite seasons to dress for thanks to being able to pull out my dresses and not having to worry about always wearing tights or covering them with sweaters and jackets. I've tried so many times to slip on jeans and shorts but for every day that I wear a pair of jeans or shorts I wear a dress/skirt for every 3 or 4 days - at least. I guess I should go ahead and accept that I'll always feel more comfortable in skirts. (The only time that it's annoying is when it's windy - especially in the city!) Emily and Fin has such a pretty selection of dresses, all of the patterns are so fun and unique! I think that this pretty floral number may be next on my list.

We're already half way through the week! Here's to looking forward to the weekend.

T. Swift Never Goes Out of Style

Next Friday Taylor Swift is coming to Philadelphia! And I'm going to the 1989 World Tour! I'm super excited and cannot wait to dance all night to one of my favorite albums and to see one of my idols in person. Ah - honestly I can't even think about it too much. The night I went to the Red tour with my mom was honestly one of the best nights I've ever had. But enough of that! I'm sure you will all hear about my fan-girling after the concert and even during it if you follow me on Instagram.

There are so many people that come to mind when I think about style icons. But one of the first would easily be - Taylor Swift! Her girly and classic style is one that has been covered by loads of magazines and websites but I've always been obsessed. Trying to steal the look? Try high-waisted silhouettes, colorful heels, polished bags and cropped lengths.

Who is your celeb style icon?

It's June 1st and it sure does feel like summertime. And what could be more summery than a classic LWD? It's so hard for me to resist a white dress during the summer! I almost bought another one the other day when my friends had to stop me because they knew I have a few too many (even for me) hiding in my closet. The best part is getting to dress them up or down or even being able to transition LWD's through the seasons. I kept it simple last Saturday for a brunch date with Derek and then an evening at a beer garden. Below are a few more adorable and affordable options!

Although I love sticking to a classic LWD I'm trying to switch up a few other things - like lipstick! I've always reached for my red lipstick (usually my NARS velvet matte lip pencils in Dragon Girl or Mysterious Red) but now I'm loving shades of bright pink. What are your go-to lip colors for summer?
