Blueberry Muffins

Last week when I woke up, I wasn't exactly in the mood for the same bland breakfast of cereal with soy milk and fruit, so I looked through the fridge and found that we had a full container of blueberries. It's been a few weeks since I had any kind of baked good for breakfast so I decided I would give homemade blueberry muffins a try, and now I am so happy that I tried it out. These were seriously the best blueberry muffins I have ever had, it was probably the streusel topping that topped it off. I'm not even ashamed to admit that I had two with my coffee.

Memorial Day Fun

Dress: Black Poppy, Flats: Target, Necklace: Forever 21

I hope everyone had a fun, celebratory weekend! Yesterday I had no plans for Memorial Day, but it ended up being one of the bests ones yet. I saw "The Lorax" in the morning with Derek and his family (which was adorable) and then went to his house and played with chalk with his little niece. Afterwards, Derek and I went back to my house and baked brownies, then went and played tennis and then once again, stopped at his house for his mom's homemade ice cream. It's hard to believe that I didn't play tennis for over a year. It felt so incredibly good to be out on the court once again, I want to try and make tennis a weekly thing now. We had dinner and snacks with my family and then just relaxed the rest of the evening. Sometimes the days that you have no plans, turn into the best days. And of course, I had to throw some red, white and blue into my outfit.

Loose Layers

Tank: Kohls, Skirt: Macy's, Vest: Target, Belt: PacSun, Clogs: Old Navy, Necklace: c/o Towne and Reese, Hat: Charlotte Russe

I wore this outfit a few days ago, with this current heat and humidity there is no way I could pile on these layers now. Although, I can't complain because I absolutely love weather like this, there's nothing better than slipping on a pair of shorts and a tank and being done with it. Anyways, being in Philadelphia, I doubt this outfit would get too much attention, but you should have seen the looks I got walking around this small town in this outfit. I think it was mostly the hat and clogs, two items I see myself wearing frequently this summer. I hope you all have a fun Memorial Day! I have no certain plans, but I'm going to enjoy this beautiful day with my family and Derek.

Music, Books and Indian Food

One of my favorite memories from last semester was when me and my best friend, Adrienne, headed to West Philadelphia. An area we weren't that familiar with. We ended up exploring Penn's campus and exploring the area surrounding it. We found a cool record store that was called "Marvelous" that we ended up spending a good amount of time in and then we headed to a bookstore that had the cutest cat. We finished the day off with Indian food at "New Delhi", something that I had never had before but  I ended up loving it We even ended up having the desserts, the "honey balls" were surprisingly delicious and so was the pistachio ice cream. Ahhh, Philly, I can't wait to be reunited, hopefully a trip will be possible in a few weeks.

Spring Rain

Scarf: Gift, Top: Thrifted, Skirt: Kira for Pacsun
These last couple of days have been nothing but overcast, even though I prefer to not be sick, I guess my cold has perfect timing. I've been laying around, being lazy, watching movies, eating junk food and just enjoying some down time. Luckily, I have some plans for the rest of the week that include a psychic reading, best friend time, a dinner date and indian food in the city. What's are your plans for the rest of the week?

Strawberry Shortcake Cake

I haven't baked a full sized cake in a long time, and as soon as I saw this recipe I knew that I had to try it out. Strawberry shortcake is one of my favorite desserts, but I never thought about turning that dessert into a sponge-cake form. This is the perfect thing to bake on a sunny Spring day. I decided to decorate the top with extra strawberries, I did it in a hurry but I'm sure there are all kinds of different things you could do when it comes to decorating.

PS: This recipe makes the BEST cream cheese frosting ever, I will definitely be reusing the cream cheese icing recipe for other types of cake.
