we couldn't have picked a more beautiful fall day. I always look forward to our yearly trip to New Hope for an afternoon at Solebury Orchards. As much as I love Philadelphia, it's nice to get away from the city for a bit - especially during the fall. Until COVID-19 took over our lives, I never realized how important my morning runs by the river are or weekend hikes at Wissahickon or a summer day at the shore. So, this year, apple picking seemed even more special than it usually does. I've shopped there for years, they have so many classic, beautiful pieces but this year their pieces seem trendier than ever thanks to the cottagecore trend that's taking over fashion right now. Aspects of cottagecore style have been in trend for a few years like \u003Ca href=\"http:\/\/www.organizedmessblog.com\/2020\/06\/floral-statement-tops.html\" target=\"_blank\"\u003Epuffy sleeves\u003C\/a\u003E, \u003Ca href=\"http:\/\/www.organizedmessblog.com\/search\/label\/midi%20or%20maxi?max-results=12\" target=\"_blank\"\u003Emidi length skirts and dresses\u003C\/a\u003E but this year the trend has been turned up a notch with midi-length puff-sleeved plaid dresses, \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/shopstyle.it\/l\/bo0qK\" target=\"_blank\"\u003Etops with oversized collars\u003C\/a\u003E and \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/shopstyle.it\/l\/bo0sf\" target=\"_blank\"\u003Eruffles\u003C\/a\u003E. I wonder if it's specific to our new quarantine lifestyle. Maybe it's the desire for simplicity while our lives are quieter than ever. Again, as much as I love living in Philadelphia, sometimes the idea of spending this period of self-isolation sounds a little nicer in a remote cottage, surrounded by flowery fields where I could bake and cook all day and go for long walks in flowery fields. Did anybody else wake up to a little snow yesterday? I'm definitely not a fan of winter (I hate being cold!) but waking up to snow did feel a little magical. Living in Philadelphia, I really just need to accept and embrace cooler temps. I mean, I know it's going to be freezing every winter! It's not like I should be shocked year over year. They've held up pretty well despite the fact that I've walked miles all over the city in them multiple times. If you're looking to dress something up for work booties, heels or a nice pair of flats is always a good way to go. Booties can work all spring long but I am SO excited to lose the tights once it's warm enough.
