Navy Lace

One of my favorite things about this time of year is getting to dress up and pick out a few dresses I wouldn't normally wear. It's always fun to pick out an outfit for a special occasion like Christmas or New Years Eve. I picked up this dress from a nearby local boutique here in Philly called Lost & Found.  They had so many adorable options, it was hard to choose - but you can't go wrong with a mix of a classic and a current piece, right? Lace will forever work for special occasions, while the off-the-shoulder look is a current trend that seems like it will be sticking around for a little bit longer. I wore this to our family Christmas Eve party, but this look could totally work for New Years Eve as well! Take a look at a few of my other New Years Eve picks below.

Also, this Michael Kors bag was a lovely gift from Derek for Christmas and I can't get enough of it! I'm so excited to wear it everyday, and it will be the perfect bag to take along for my upcoming trip to Paris in a few weeks. I love the combination of navy and oyster too - such a pretty and classic color combo.

Have a happy New Year everyone!

Christmas Village in Philadelphia

Organized MessOrganized MessOrganized MessOrganized MessOrganized MessOrganized MessIt's always a little sad after Christmas has came and went. We spend weeks in preparation for the holidays, and in the blink of an eye, it's over. Derek and I have a few fun holiday traditions around Philadelphia, one of them being Christmas Village! This year the European-inspired Christmas market was set up at Dilworth Park, right by City Hall. Complete with an ice skating rink, a hot chocolate bar (peppermint schnapps in hot chocolate - yes please!), a winter garden and a carousel - the village felt more festive than ever before. Derek and I wandered around in the cold for nearly an hour with a warm mug of mulled wine in hand. This is one holiday tradition I look forward to coming back to every year.

Cable Knit + Plaid

I'm trying something new out. I love layers, but I never really thought about wearing a layer underneath a turtleneck. I love how this look turned out with the hint of plaid peeking out from underneath this mockneck sweater. It adds a fun pop of color and an extra layer of warmth - win, win! I bought this sweater as an impulse buy on black Friday without even trying it on and it instantly became a favorite as soon as I tried it on home. Here's to living in cozy knits the next few months.

A Day in Manhattan

Before the Christmas rush, last month Derek and I took the Megabus to NYC all day. I absolutely love how easy it is to get from Philly to New York. It's no secret how badly I want to live in NYC, a dream I plan on pursuing within the next two years, but for now, it's great to get on the bus and be there within two hours. We didn't have any true plans for the day, we just planned on going to brunch and then walking around and seeing where the day would take us.
Initially, we were going to reserve a table at Sarabeth's in Tribeca but we decided to try somewhere new and put a reservation in for Bluebell Cafe and was hooked right away. The wine bar filled with knick knacks and wooden furniture was cozy and the food was delicious. I went with the lox Benedict with a side if fries that had chopped peppers and onions mixed into them - yum! For after brunch dessert (we're just going to pretend like that's a thing) we made our way to Milk Bar where I got the pumpkin pie milkshake. It was a late October day but of course we went on a day where it just did not feel like fall at all. We're talking 75 degrees and sunny, it may have been nearly November but it felt like a September afternoon.  Nonetheless, we walked around Central Park taking in the sights of the fall foliage and tried to feel the briskness that fall brings. We did a little bit of shopping and a lot of pizza eating later in the day - it was the perfect day to spend in NYC.
