Midi Cut-Out Chambray Dress

I love a good chambray skirt, shirt or dress! I couldn't resist this midi-length chambray dress from Lou & Grey - plus it has an open back! You may have seen it on my Wednesday Wishlist two weeks ago. I loved dressing this up with summery pieces like these blocked heeled sandals but I'm also excited to wear this dress in the fall with scarves and booties. I know we still have a good month of summer left but I've already put a halt on my summer shopping and starting to think ahead and started to buy pieces that will work later in the summer and into fall .

I hope everyone had a great weekend! Mine was fairly laid-back, I had work and then spent some time in local coffee shops getting blogging work done and then ended the weekend getting margaritas (and then ice cream...yum!) with a friend. And now it's Monday once again! I'm already looking forward to a trip to the lake with Derek for a little bit of hiking and kayaking on Friday. What are you looking forward to this week?

The Baker's Jar

Ever want to grab dessert to-go? The Baker's Jar in Philadelphia makes it incredibly easy. The little cafe features a series of cakes in mason jars. From flavors like birthday cake, to champagne and rose, tres leche, apple crumb and more - there are plenty of choices for any kind of cake or treat that you're craving. A PHLblogger event was hosted in this space a few weeks ago and since then I have been back twice! These little cakes in mason jars are such a fun treat to give to a friend for their birthday or something yummy to pick up if you're craving something sweet. Located on the corner of 16th and Bainbridge, this adorable space is made up of wooden cabinets featuring the cakes along with succulent arrangements made by Bowerbird Garden which are all for sale as well! A minimalistic cafe filled with mason jars and unique succulents - doesn't get more instagrammable than that.
I tried the champagne and rose cake and was not disappointed. In fact, it was even better than I imagined. Rich and full of flavor, the icing was sweet but not too sweet and the cake was the perfect texture - fluffy and light. Plus, I love how the icing and cake is layered throughout the jar!
Don't forget to shop small and support local businesses! The Baker's Jar is located at 625 S 16th Street, Philadelphia, Pa 19103 and is open Tuesday-Thursday 9am-6pm, Friday 9am-7pm, Saturday 9am-5pm and Sunday 9am-4pm.

Summer Neutrals

I hope that this outfit is proof that you can wear florals without being overly girly! As much as I love a sweet and girly outfit every once in awhile, it's nice to tone it down with a neutral tank and metallic shorts. This speckled tank is actually made out of a fairly heavy material. It almost feels sweater-like so it will be a great transitional piece into fall - whenever that is. It has been hot hot hot in Philly. We have been hit with a major heat wave for this past week and I can't even imagine what cooler weather would be like right now.
I decided to keep up with the neutral tones in this outfit when it came to makeup as well and went with a natural lip color and barely any blush. Plus, who wants a face full of makeup when it's 100 degrees out? How have you been dealing with this heat?
