Cranberry

11.30.2015

I hope all of my American readers had a wonderful holiday weekend, full of turkey, pie, friends, family and laughter! The weekend flew by so quickly. I worked all day on Black Friday and then Saturday and Sunday too but I'm thankful I got to spend Thursday at home with my family and with Derek. I didn't get the chance to make my pumpkin cheesecake or apple pie this year, but there's always Christmas for that!

This year I chose a jumpsuit to wear for the holiday instead of a tight, little dress or skirt. It made stuffing my face much easier without having a waist band that was too tight. Because that's what Thanksgiving is all about, right? I got this Madewell jumpsuit for basically a steal, there's still more left online so be sure to check it out because it's basically the most comfortable thing I have ever worn, plus it's easy to dress up or down. For the holidays, all I had to do was throw on a statement necklace and heels and I was done! Do you usually get dressed up for Thanksgiving?

Mixing Black and Brown

11.24.2015

If you've been following along, you probably know that I'm a big fan of colors and patterns. But you can never go wrong with solids and neutrals, especially on a crisp, fall day. We've all heard the rumor - you can't wear black and brown together. I don't think that's necessarily true, mixing brown and black can create a chic, put together look if it's done simply. I didn't add too many accessories and threw in pops of red between my purse and lipstick for my love of color.

The weekend flew by, I worked the entire weekend and got a little bit of Christmas shopping done but overall it was a very low-key few days. I'm still having a hard time believing that Thanksgiving is in two days! The holidays are here!

Style Remix: Holiday Looks

11.20.2015

It's hard to believe that Thanksgiving is less than a week away! One of my favorite things about the holidays is dressing for them. It's fun to pick out something new and fun to wear for things like Thanksgiving, holiday parties, Christmas and New Years Eve! I love classic staples like a LBD, lace and metallics. These are a few looks from 2009 to 2013. As you can see long hair and bangs used to be my thing until I chopped off all my hair last fall. Looking at these pictures I miss having long hair sometimes, but short hair is so much more manageable! This year for Thanksgiving I picked up a jumpsuit that I'm excited to share on here, so a lot different than my usual dresses/skirts!

Warby Parker: Winter 2015 Collection

11.19.2015

When I was younger, I remember desperately crying to my parents that I wanted glasses. You know the phrase, you always want what you can't have? Well, I've always had nearly 20/20 vision so it's safe to say I never got glasses and still don't have them. I eventually got over it and realized it was silly to want glasses when I didn't need them. But now - Warby Parker's newest collection makes me want them all over again! With crisp, cool colors the newest collection is so perfect for winter. Shades of blues, greys and taupes fill the collection with a sense of tranquility and it's so easy to envision each pair fitting perfectly into a winter wardrobe.

If I wore glasses I would go for the Wilder or the Chelsea (haha, coincidentally!). Both styles are right up my ally for a classic, chic look and I love the cat-eye style to the Chelsea. I don't even know which color I prefer - both the Whistler Grey and the Grapefruit Soda colors are perfection. The Wilder two-toned pair fits in with the little bit of quirkiness I like to throw into my style. The Eaton is another good option for a two-toned pair, the Tree Swallow Fade is such a chic color combo. Take a look at the full collection below -

Soon I'll be trying on some of my favorite frames from the collection and sharing my favorite looks on the blog! You can also try on your favorites from the collection with the Warby Parker Home Try-On program! You can order 5 pairs of frames and have 5 days to try them on FOR FREE. I know, crazy! Return shipping is also on them, so there is no additional cost! I'm super excited to try this out, I'll sort of get to live my childhood dream of having glasses, even if it's just for five days. There are also some great sunwear options as you can see with the blue tints above. We change up our style for each season, so why not change up our glasses? Whether it's optical or sunwear, find a new pair you'll love all winter.

Sweater Weather

11.16.2015

Sweater weather! It looks like this week is actually going to be a bit brisk and I'm weirdly excited about it! This was a super casual outfit I wore on Saturday but it felt so right for fall - a chunky sweater, a plaid scarf, oxblood jeans and my favorite Sole Society booties. Fall perfection for a cozy day in. Especially for the kind of day where you only leave for ice cream.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! Saturday was spent sleeping in, watching a movie and being lazy around the house until Derek and I went for an ice cream date at Franklin Fountain. It was freezing but I got pumpkin ice cream with whipped cream and it tasted just like pumpkin pie! I can't believe Thanksgiving is next week already.

Sunday, Derek and I took a day trip Cape May and we were blessed with a beautiful day. It felt so good to sit by the ocean again. The last time I had been on a beach was back in April in Mallorca, Spain! There's something so peaceful about sitting by water, even on a chilly day. There will be a blog post about our day trip later this week! I hope Monday is looking good, I'm catching up on a few errands and then meeting a few friends for happy hour! Gotta make the most out of these Mondays.
