Top & Skirt: H&M, Heels: Loft (Under $100!)

It's unfortunate that I've fallen in love with with crop tops since the cold weather has set in. Good thing they make crop tops with a high neckline and long sleeves. I consider myself to have a fairly conservative and girly style but it's fun to experiment with new looks sometimes. I'll never go so far outside of my comfort zone where my look is too revealing. I try to mix classic and modern looks.

Do you every try to go out of your comfort zone? How have you experimented with style lately?

1989: Top 8

10.28.2014

Pictures from Taylor Pictures

1989 is out! I'm sure if you have been following my blog for any length of time you know I'm a major Taylor Swift fan (no shame). I've been waiting for this album for two years now and I was shocked by the new direction sonically. As an avid country music listener I was skeptical, and although this usually isn't the type of music I listen to I've embraced this album and all of the fun that comes with it. Her incredible story telling lyrics are still in there, and the fashion for this new era is ON POINT (So classic and chic). I've been so inspired by her matchy-outfits and crop tops lately.

Here are my top 8 favorite songs (with my favorite lyrics) from the album right now.

8. Out of the Woods
Looking at it now, it all seems so simple. We were lying on your couch, I remember, you took a polaroid of us. Then discovered the rest of the world was in black and white but we were in screaming color. And I remember thinking, are we out of the woods yet? Looking at it now, last December we were meant to fall apart, then fall back together. Your necklace hanging from my neck. That night we couldn't quite forget, we decided to move the furniture so we could dance. Baby, like we stood a chance. Two paper airplanes, flying.

7. Wildest Dreams
Say you'll remember me standing in a nice dress, staring at the sunset. Red lips and rosy cheeks. Say you'll see me again even if it's just in your wildest dreams. I said no one has to know what we do. His hands are in my hair, his clothes are in my room and his voice is a familiar sound but nothing lasts forever.

6. Clean
You're still all over me like a wine-stained dress I can't wear anymore. Hung my head, as I lost the war and the sky turned black like a perfect storm.  Rain came pouring down when I was drowning. That's when I could finally breathe. And by morning, gone was any trace of you, I think  am finally clean.

5. I Know Places
Let them say what they want, we won't hear it. Loose lips sink ships all the damn time, not this time. Just grab my hand and don't ever drop it, my love. They are the hunters, we are the foxes and we run.

4. Blank Space
Find out what you want and I'll be that girl for a month. Wait the worst is yet to come, oh no. Screaming, crying, perfect storm. I can make all the tables turn. Rose gardens filled with thorns.//Boys only want love if it's torture. Don't say I didn't say I didn't warn ya.

3. You Are In Love
Morning, his place, burnt toast, Sunday. You keep his shirt, he keeps his word. For once, you let go of your fears and your ghosts.

2. Style
You got that James Dean daydream look in your eye and I got that red lip classic thing that you like. And when we go crashing down, we come back every time cause we never go out of style. You got that long hair, slicked back, white t-shirt and I got that good girl faith and tight little skirt.

1. This Love
Tossing, turning, struggle through the night with someone new. And I could go on and on. Lantern, burning, flickered in my mind only for you. But you're still gone, gone, gone. Been losing grip, oh, sinking ships. You showed up just in time.

Change

10.14.2014

Skirt and Top: Smak Parlour, Heels: LOFT, Purse: Vintage

I don't know if it's too much Mad Men, or my obsession with vintage fashion but I feel like a 60's actress in this outfit. Well, a 60's actress with a twist of 90's Cher from Clueless and a modern Taylor Swift. Not only does this outfit play with my obsession of vintage fashion but my obsession with matchy outfits as well (I may even own about 10 pairs of matching pajama sets...).

But, if you didn't notice, I got a haircut! I shared the news on my instagram last weekend. I chose this bold outfit from Smak Parlour for my bold move. I was so nervous about the cut but I couldn't feel more like myself. I've had long hair for years and was itching for a change but didn't want to put any dyes in my hair so this is what I went with!

Hope you all are having a great start to your week!! It will be Friday before we know it.

Apple Picking

10.08.2014

Top: Madewell (Similar), Collared Top: Old Navy, Jeans: Old Navy (Similar), Hat and Shoes: Target (Both Old)

So after years of adding apple picking to my Fall To-Do List, I finally went. I went home last weekend for a country music festival and while I was there Derek and I went! It was a gorgeous day out, even if it was a little dreary out. The smell was amazing and I've basically been craving apple cider since then. Naturally, I tried to go with a fall-themed outfit. How have you been celebrating the new season?

Plaid Days

10.03.2014

Dress: Loft, Necklace: Loft, Hat: Avery Fedora by 5th and Elm, Shoes: Nine West, Watch: Michael Kors
Growing up in southern states as a child and then in rural Pennsylvania from middle school on, I have always been around small town places and people. In high school I had a deep love for fashion and personal style, which is when I started this blog. Halfway through high school I felt like I no longer fit in these small towns and I was going to move to the city. After graduating I went straight for Philadelphia and still live there today, nearly four years later. Right now I still feel weirdly between a city and country girl.
Sometimes I feel too country for the city and too city for the country. That feeling is a little unsettling sometimes but instead of being fearful of it, I've decided to just embrace it. And embracing my country side can be an excuse for my love of plaid. And what's a better way to show my love for plaid by wearing an entire dress of it?
This incredibly comfortable dress is from Loft is so easy to accessorize. I wore my favorite accessory, my 5th and Elm fedora with this despite the fact that I usually don't mix black and blue. Sometimes you just got to break your own style.
