Little Details

Dress: Free People via Buffalo Exchange, Belt: Kate Spade, Earrings: Kate Spade, Bangle: Kate Spade (similar), Shoes: Target, Sunglasses: Loft

Friday! We made it! I hope everyone enjoys their long weekend. I work today and tomorrow but Derek's coming to Philly to spend time with me this weekend since we both have off on Sunday and Monday. This year was the first year I didn't go back home and spend the entire summer with him, instead, we both continued our lives in the places we feel we're supposed to be right now. So, with that being said, every weekend we get to spend together is a blessing.

Now, I don't know how many people believe in this whole, "no white after labor day" thing, so I'm going ahead with a post on my favorite LWD before Monday. I found this Free People dress at Buffalo Exchange for 30 bucks last Spring and it was on constant rotation in my closet all summer. I love the little details in their clothing, the peter pan collar and the fun lace pattern make it one of my favorite summer dresses in my closet. Also, going back to Wednesday's post where I mentioned how my style correlates with being girly, classic and quirky at the same time, not only is Zooey Deschanel a perfect example of that, but so is the brand Kate Spade.Which I'm, quite literally, 100% accessorized in.

Happy Friday! Enjoy the weekend.

Style Spotlight: Zooey Deschanel

Images owned by Fox
If I had to put a name on my own sense of personal style it would be somewhere within the terms on girly, classic and quirky. With how I've grown into my own comfortable sense of personal style I usually never stray too far into sexy, tight or revealing clothing. With that being said, I still like to push myself out of my comfort zone and try to mix my style up a little bit. An easy way to do this is to look at others for inspiration. One of my style icons has been Zooey Deschanel (as well as her character, Jessica Day, in New Girl) for quite a while. She mixes classic pieces with quirky items while maintaining girly-ness perfectly. Also, bangs. Always a sucker for bangs.

Just wanted to share a little bit of mid-week inspiration thanks to a hectic week.
Who do you look for when it comes to style inspiration?

4th of July Flashback

Top: H&M (Old), Shorts: Smak Parlour, Shoes: Keds (On Sale Now!), Necklace: Tiffany's, Watch: Michael Kors, Earrings: Francesca's, Sunglasses: Loft

Today was the official start to my senior year of college. It makes me feel slightly sick to my stomach to think about that. A part of me feels ready to be done with school and to start "real life" (whatever that really means) but then again I almost feel just as unsure about what I want to do as I did when I came to university 3 years ago. With labor day weekend right around the corner I'm already feeling nostalgic for the summer. These photos were taken back on Fourth of July when summer felt like it wasn't going to end. It was such a fun day, I spent the day at Pinchot Park with Derek and then we went home to play with sparklers with my little sister and then I baked a flag cake.

This summer I was all about mixing patterns in subtle ways. I mixed my nautically-knot (try saying that 3 times fast) printed Keds with stripes and polka dots almost weekly. I've also realized how much I stray back to classic pieces. Adding a pair of pearls, my Tiffany's necklace that Derek got me for our anniversary and my gold watch is almost a daily thing and I can't resist a pair of vintage-inspired shorts. I got these adorable shorts last Spring at Smak Parlour, a boutique in Old City owned by two best friends. You can actually check out an article I wrote on the adorable BFF's and their incredible boutique last Fall, HERE.

Summer Days

Dress: Ruche (Old), Sunglasses: Loft, Necklace: Apt. 9 (Via Kohls), Shoes: Target (Old), Purse: Nine West

I'm having a hard time believing that school starts once again in a week. Summer days drift by so silently that their hard to grasp onto and appreciate in the moment. I wore my share of pretty summer dresses this year so be prepared for posts on them all September long. This Ruche dress was one of my favorite dresses I picked up last summer, I styled it here last July and remixed it with some new jewelry this year. There's something about a loose, flowy dress and a pair of heels and fun jewelry that I can't get enough of.
