ACM's 2014: Top Five

Last night was the Academy of Country Music Awards. There's no other television program I love more than a country music award show. Although I don't listen to country music quite as much as I used to since I moved to Philadelphia, something about the genre always feels like home to me after practically being raised on it. These were my top five favorite moments of the night.
5. Kacey Musgraves winning Album of the Year.
I am obsessed, and I mean obsessed, with Same Trailer Different Park. It's one of the few albums I know every word of every single song. My favorite part about Musgrave's acceptance speech was when she said "I'm proud to be a woman representing country music." If you check out her album be sure to listen to "Stupid", "It Is What It Is", and "Keep It To Yourself."

 4. Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton pretending to be Daft Punk

3. Blake Shelton and Shakira's Duet, "Medicine"
You know how every once in a while you find a song you basically play on repeat all day long? This song has been mine, seriously, I probably listened to it 20 times today. Seeing them perform it live on the award show was really great, and I love how an unlikely pair sound so incredible together.

2. The Red Carpet
These dresses! As much as I love the country music awards, usually the red carpets aren't quite the best but Taylor Swift, Danielle Bradbery and Kellie Pickler looked stunning.

1. The Band Perry Opening the Show
I love them ever since I saw them when they had just came out with "If I Die Young" more than three years ago. Chainsaw is one of my favorites off their newest album, "Pioneer." And how bad-ass does Kimberly Perry look!?

  1. love country music but i'm way behind on what's new and what's not now a days. although I love the band perry. Not a big fan of Luke Bryan since he's from like 40 or so miles from where I live. That's all the radio stations know. But he is funny with blake shelton. Couldn't believe Blake got tongue tied introducing his wife singing though LOL

didn't see the song chain saw and missed a few things b/c of where I was during it but i did the rest of it.

  2. I used to listen to country music all the time. Now it all here and there.

  3. How did I miss this?!!!! I love the ACM's. Country award shows are my favorite! Thanks for the recap!
