Family Nights

I think one of the biggest things that I have realized since leaving home for school is that I'm starting to get a lot closer to my family. Living at home, I feel like I never appreciated my parents and siblings as much as I should have but going weeks without seeing them really made me realize how much they mean to me and how much I love and miss them. When I was home for spring break about a month ago I went bowling with them and my dads Marine Corp friends. It ended up being a really fun night, even when everyone started to wear those goofy glasses. It's so hard to think that my baby brother is going to be 18 this October and my little sister just turned 13! My parents must think they are getting old. Haha. My mom is already dreading turning 40 this year. She never believes me when I tell her she doesn't look 40. It feels so strange to be growing up, I remember going to the same bowling event last year like it was yesterday.

  1. i know exactly how you feel. my mom and i have gotta so much closer since i've been gone for school. same with my sisters. i'm in the middle and it just blows my mind that little sister is 15 now. like, i'm pretty sure she was still playing with beanie babies 3 days ago.. but apparently not? haha.

all 3 of us have become a lot closer since my older sister and i have been gone. in fact, when my older found out i got into a program at her university she called and asked if i wanted to come move to the house her and her friend are living in. talk about mind blowing.

  2. Your mom does NOT look 40!! I felt closer to my family when I moved off and went to school too. Something about living with them everyday and being around them 24/7 makes you under appreciate their awesomeness. :)

  4. Aw, your family looks so cute! I completely understand how you feel though:) Even though I'm not in college yet, even leaving them for a week brings us closer together. As another example, when I didn't see Logan (my boyfriend, of 2 months on the 14th!) for 2 weeks, when we did see eachother again it brought us closer. You appreciate how much they really do mean to you. <3

Happy National Siblings Day by the way!

  6. College is when I started to get closer with my parents. And now that I'm mid-twenties, they're a couple of my best friends! :)
