RIP Scout

Today we had to put our german shepherd, Scout, down. We only had her for 6 short years. Only 2 months ago we found a lump on her leg that turned out to be bone cancer. She tried to fight it but the cancer took over so quickly that nothing could be done. We were scheduled to put her down next week but today we knew it would be unfair for her to go another day. She was such a beautiful, well-behaved dog. Everybody I knew loved her, even my friends who don't like dogs. Dogs become such a huge part of your family, today when we got home the house felt so empty without her. I'm going to miss her so much but I am so thankful that she is no longer in pain. I love and miss you Scout.

"I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional love. For me they are the role model for being alive." ~Gilda Radner

  2. OMG! Your post just made me cry. I feel sad knowing that pets get sick and they don't know how to tell it to us. :-(

  4. awww...oh no! I'm really sorry about your dog. I know how it feels. My dog passed away a few months ago. My mom wanted to get another dog but I decided not to, I'm still heartbroken over my baby Sugar so I'm not having pets anymore

  8. Oh Chelsea, I am so very sorry. Animals are family, I truly believe that. Not furry family, or feathery/scaly family. True family. I will say a little prayer for your doggie. Lots of hugs to you. Feel better and yes, remember she's in a better place and in no pain. She will always be with you.

  10. Awww, I'm so sorry to hear that. ): I think people that don't have dogs don't really understand how close of a bond you can have. It's not 'like' a member of your family has died, a member of your family has died. When we had to put our old dog down I cried for weeks...

  23. sorry to hear about scout. i unexpectedly lost a pet years back and felt like my world ended. before i got my dog last year with my boyfriend, i was afraid i couldn't handle going through that again. but my bf reminded me that they add so much happiness in life. and there are more happy memories to recall that outweigh the sadness. he's right! i can't imagine not having my little Cowboy!

  30. Oh :( this is so sad. I'm sorry to read about your loss and her pain. It's horrible when you lose a pet that's really part of the family. But it sounds like she had good parents who cared for her.
